The Spotlight's on Valerie Jeannin!

Valerie Jeannin has been singing with SACC for 7 years now and we are happy to welcome her back to our The Mystery of Christmas concert on Dec. 16 and 17!

Tell us about yourself, Valerie!
I grew up in Austin, TX and live in the Alamo City. I have been singing in choirs ever since I can remember. At Trinity University where I received my Bachelors in Music and Master of Arts in Teaching, I sang with the Trinity Choir and the Chamber Singers. During my time at university, I sang the role of Dido in Trinity Opera Workshop's Dido and Aeneas, La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, the Third Lady in The Magic Flute in some productions in Kunming, China, and L'enfant in L'enfant et les sortileges at Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point. I also won first place in the Rosalind Phillips Vocal Competition. I had the honor of being a featured soloist for Trinity University Choir's 2015 TMEA performance. I have sung in choruses with San Antonio Opera and Alamo City Opera and currently am a section leader at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in San Antonio. I teach my wonderful students as a middle school choir director in Northside ISD.

If you could be any other vocal part, which part would you be?
Bass because they get to go LOW!

What's the most valuable lesson you ever learned in voice lessons or choir?
Choir (and life) is about making mistakes and learning from them.

What's your favorite holiday carol?
Jesus Christ the Apple Tree

Are there any composers everyone seems to love but you can't stand?
Eric Whitacre...

Valerie was a featured singer on SACC's newest album, Unfrozen: Christmas in the Baltics, which is now available for purchase on iTunes.  It's a beautiful album of Christmas and solstice music from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia and would make an excellent holiday gift for the classical music lover in your life!  For a limited time, donors who make a generous donation to SACC for $100 or more receive this beautiful CD as a gift!

If you love Valerie and want to support her singing endeavors, please consider donating to the San Antonio Chamber Choir so that we can continue to provide San Antonio and South Texas with performances of the finest choral music featuring Valerie and all our extremely talented singers!  Thank you so much!

Concert Time!
Come see Valerie and the rest of the San Antonio Chamber Choir this December 16th and 17th for SACC's The Mystery of Christmas Concert!  This event celebrates 100 years of recorded jazz and 1,000 years of choral music in a combined concert with special guests, the Jazz Protagonists.  Also featured will be the North East School of the Arts Dancers and the Clark High School Choir.
